Voodoo 5 5500 poor image quality

I have a Voodoo 5 5500 AGP that I would like to use, but the 2D image
quality is very poor at 1600x1200 and higher. Text is noticeably less
sharp than any other video card I've used at this resolution. My
Voodoo 3 and Banshee both look fine. Is the Voodoo 5 known for this
problem, or do I have a bad card? Is there anything that can be done
to improve things? I know it's not the monitor, or cable because it
looks perfect on other video cards.

Actually they were known for very good image quality. It sounds like you
have a bad sample. I ran my PCI version of the V5 5500 up to 2048x1536 and
I was alway surprised just how good its output was.
